Being A King-----

 

Is a hard but satisfying job.  Mainly, we make sure that all vampires in your state follow the rules set down by the Authority, and take action when they don’t.  And almost as important, try to maintain good relations between Humans And Vampires. I like being a leader, even though some of my subjects who think I’m too young to be King.

Love

Is it really possible for a Vampire to love a Human?  I know I loved Sookie with everything I had, but is it feasible?

1: Unless your love is strong enough that your significant other would be willing to be turned, they will eventually get old and die.

2: Vampires can't have children, so that needs to be addressed before a relationship gets serious.

3: The Sun: Enough said.

4: We vampires are sexual beings, and we can get rough.

5: Blood: Will your significant other mind being bitten? If they don't like the sight of blood, that might be a problem.  If you feed from someone else, would that be considered cheating?

6: Marriage: I respect the law, patience is needed.

7: What will your significant other's family think?

A Tough And Heartbreaking Call

Suppose you were a vampire. Now suppose that a family member or your closest friend were dying, and they asked you to turn them.  Could you?  Would your conscience allow you to heal them by having them join the ranks of the Undead?  That was the choice I had to make in 1910, when I visited my daughter Sarah as she was dying of Cancer.  I refused to turn her, and hearing her cry and begging me to turn her so she would not feel the pain anymore will haunt me till the true death.

Even though I look all happy and smiling, it broke my heart to see my Daughter Sarah on her deathbed.  Normally I'd say a parent should never outlive their children....

Eric

Eric Northman is a Vampire you definately want on your side in a fight.  He is loyal to his friends and merciless to his enemies. I should know, I've been on both sides over the years!

If I had it to do all over again...

I would have just kept on going and not stopped at Lorena's house that night. But if I hadn't , I would have never had the opportunity to meet you fine people.

San Francisco 1905

At the height of our tour of terror across the United States, Lorena and I payed a visit to a brothel in San Francisco run by one Pamela Swynford De Beaufort.  While we were there, we made meals of several of Pam's girls, killing them without a care. However, also staying there was another vampire named Eric Northman, and we got into a bit of a row. Little did I know that we would meet Eric and Pam a century later.....

Sookie

My wife Caroline was my first love, but Sookie  is the love of my life, my Soulmate.  I curse the times I've betrayed her.  I pray that some day, she will totally forgive me and be mine again, the time we were together has been the happiest of my vampire existence.

Redemption

Shortly after I forced Lorena to release me by threatening to stake myself, I decided to attempt to atone for all the killing I had done while under her power.  From that time until I became an employee of Queen Sophie-Anne in the late 1970's , I traveled all around North America, settling into various towns for periods  of times.  During my feeding trips at night, in addition to looking for blood, if I saw anyone committing a crime in addition to being my dinner, I would glamour said miscreants into turning themselves into the Law.  There were several people who owe their lives to me, as I saved them from potentially fatal attacks. I know it didn't even come close to making up for what we did, but It did feel good to use my Vampire Powers for good.

Maker And Child

I didn't want to turn Jessica, but I had no choice. It was either that, or  both of us would have probably been killed.  Since then, I have  finally forgiven myself for doing it, and she has as well. Jess has  told me several times that I have been more of a Father to her then her human Father was. All he did was beat her for any little reason, and treat her like trash.  We have grown close, and she has been a loyal Progeny even after I released her.  And I love her as if she was my own Daughter.

A Father's Lament

My Son Thomas was only a little boy the last time I saw him. He died during an outbreak of Pox in 1868. Thanks to Lorena, I only made it back there after he died. I wish I could have been there. He was a bright boy with a bright future. A Father should never outlive his Son, this is one regret that I will carry with me for eternity, or till the True Death.

New Orleans 1866

After taking a year to train me in all things vampire, Lorena finally decided that it was time to leave her home and head out to the big cities. Our first stop was New Orleans. Since it was Mardi Gras, the streets were teeming with humans, and we decided to leave a trail of death and destruction, both to satisfy our thirst for blood, and to also satisfy Lorena's need to kill.  I was helpless to do anything, since as my Maker, Lorena had the power to command me to do what she wanted.   For weeks, it was nothing but sex, killing, and feeding for us.  I tried to protest but Lorena shot me down. "William my love,  we vampires were designed to be killing machines. The sooner you accept that, the sooner you can get on with your new life."  With no other choice, I just agreed with her, and the mayhem continued. 

A Lot Of You Humans.....

May think that we vampires are demonic godless creatures, but In my case, you are very much mistaken!  When I was human, I was a devout Christian.  And I still believe in God.  People say that nothing happens unless God wants it too, and I believe that as  well.  Perhaps my turning was in His plans, for what I'm still trying to find out.  Who's to say that on my mortal death, my soul went to Heaven, and that some day I'll be reunited with my human family?

Bloodlust

The lust for blood is the most powerful feeling a vampire can feel.  Take human hunger and magnify it a million times.  That is how it feels.  And it just doesn't end with taking a little bit of blood, you have to drink just about a whole human body's worth to be totally full.  It is not a good feeling, having to nearly take a life to fulfill your own needs.

Things I Miss

Some things I miss from my human life:

Food: My favorite was a nice bowl of vegetable soup
Dessert: My wife's apple pie was the best I have ever tasted
Sunday mornings, getting up, a big breakfast, then going to church with my family and spending the day with them.

Lorena

My maker was a dark figure who had almost lost any humanity she had left.  Her feelings for me were both love and obsession.  Yes, I do believe she loved me in her own way, and perhaps for the first few decades we were together, I loved her too.  But at the end, I could not tolerate our killing sprees, forcing innocents to watch us make love while they bled to death.  Hopefully, after Sookie killed her, Lorena finally found peace. Perhaps had I been human and lived the centuries before we met...

First Night, First Kill

The night I arose after being turned by Lorena was terrifying and confusing.  Imagine if you will having your blood drained from you to the point of death, being fed the blood of the vampire that drained you, then being buried in the ground for up to 3 days. Then imagine waking up while you're still buried in the ground, and clawing your way to the surface. Then imagine further your maker telling you that you've been made Vampire and telling you that to survive, you must live off the blood of humans, and can only live at night.  That was the beginning of my first night as a vampire, but the worse was yet to come....

"You need to feed, I'll take you somewhere were you can find a human", Lorena told me, looking completely satisfied at her  new creation.  Feeling like I was starving to death, I was in no condition to argue.  So we went to a small town near her house, and she picked out a nice woman.  "Here, William, feed", she ordered me.  So I took the woman, bit her, and fed, and fed, and fed, till I could hear her heartbeat slow to nothing.  I was horrified at what I had become, but I was totally helpless, being under Lorena's control...So it began.....

Immortiality

You'd think that I'd like being immortal, but let me tell you, it is a 2 edged sword.  On  the one hand, it's nice to know that I'm going to live forever unless someone stakes me or burns me up. On the other, I've outlived my Wife and children for almost 100 years, and I've had to watch good friends grow old and die.  Boredom is also a big problem.  But I keep  my mind active by reading, ( I love reading, especially history), playing my Piano, and writing this blog.  I've heard of some old vampires getting depressed and bored and  deciding to end their lives by meeting the Sun. That's something I'll never let happen to me!  To the Future!
